As an interior designer by trade I love color and textures. I enjoy the form and function of architectural elements in design and how lighting can change everything. Creating the desired ambiance and positive experience in a space has been a passion my whole life.
So, with deep appreciation of art and design, it was a natural progression to try painting. Choosing to work with oil paint allows me the opportunity edit, adjust and play with color and texture. There is a constant and enjoyable editing process to achieve a feeling, to capture a mood or a moment in time, to invite the viewer to stop and linger.
I have a soft spot for nautical scenes, nautical objects, water, beaches, and cultural connections.
I am a quarter Tsimshian native, a northwest coast tribe from Alaska. I enjoy learning about and sharing my heritage and its’ rich culture and traditions. “Gisbutwada Diptegu” or killer whale is my clan. My family origins are from the fishing and maritime industries.
